The refrigerator guy

(excerpt from a letter to a friend) Well today the refrigerator guy is working on the hot water heater (of course). We've been without hot water for 6 months, but hey, it's tropical Panama, no biggie. The biggie was getting the freezer fixed! That happened on Monday. Turns out a heating unit on the freezer had burnt out (so I suppose the freezer wasn't keeping the heating unit cold enough?!). Two heating units for the freezer cost me $38 (because they use "TWO heating units now to avoid burn-out", says the man at the refrigeration parts store). On the other hand, the refrigerator guy (who's working on our hot water heater right now) after taking apart our huge American GE refrigerator, drilling holes for the "back-up heating unit", installing them and putting everything back together again, only charged us $20, bless his heart (he'd do better owning a parts store and selling two of everything).
