Holding down the fort

How many of you in the ministry have ever noticed that sometimes Tuesday seems like Monday? (no, orange is not the new pink) If Sunday is really hectic for you, then Monday sometimes ends up being your downtime day (especially if you homeschool). Of course that means that Tuesdays start feeling like Mondays...

So today started off with a dead battery. Actually the battery officially died on us Sunday morning after service. Fortunately, both our parking at church and our parking at home are on a decent slope, so I figured we could just pop the clutch and I'd go by the battery place on Monday. When I bought the battery 2 years ago, it came with free "battery maintenance", so yesterday they cleaned the terminals, topped off the acid (more like re-filled the acid) and it started right up. But, since I didn't drive around anywhere but went straight home, I guess it never fully charged.

Went to prayer at church, still no lights in the building (since Saturday... long story). Swung by the nearest ATM (at the drugstore), left the motor running and Katie in the Montero (henceforth known as the getaway vehicle), then we drove around the bypass to charge up the aforementioned languishing battery. When we got home, the plumber still hadn't arrived (three toilets, and they all back up into my shower) and I started getting pelted with phone calls.

The good news is that Pastor Juan and his family should be able to move out of the hotel and into their house tomorrow! Meanwhile they're coming over tonight to fellowship. It's really great having another family here in Panama. With their 4 kids and our 4 kids (+ Nadia), we're practically a conference or a convention just between us!

Yoiks! Plumber's here! Gotta go...
